2011 This Mayan Temple in Rabinal Baja Verapaz is looked after and protected only by the people of the town it sits above. This is one of the guardians, placing offerings and candles; a ritual “feeding” of the place to keep its energy alive. The catholic symbolism in the background is placed in gratitude to the Dominican friars who protected the Maya in this area during the Spanish invasion.
