Every now and then you come across an animal that feels so human-like, it stops you in your tracks. I don’t know if it is the slight uncertainty in Oliver’s eyes as he looks off set, or the way his snowy face is framed by a crown of auburn, but something about his presence felt viscerally emotive and profound. These micro-moments of complexity in animals are what I am always aiming to capture– they cause me to question what I think I know about them and allow me to believe in more.
